YYEEEEEAAAARRRHHHHH!
Okay folks, since I woke up this morning and WFAA (Channel 8, Dallas) was discussing his upcoming appearances I guess I am cleared to discuss this.
Barack Obama is coming to Texas this week!
He will be in Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and D/FW (maybe more?). I do not have times or locations yet (but I have about 15 email feelers out seeking confirmation) but I do know this:
Austin: Monday Feb. 18
San Antonio: Tuesday Feb. 19. Sign up here!
Stand for Change Town Hall with Barack Obama
La Plaza De Guadalupe
1327 Guadalupe Street
San Antonio, TX 78207
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Doors Open: 12:00 p.m.
Houston: Tuesday Feb. 19 Click Here to sign up for the event!! I am merely speculating here but I am pretty sure this is where he's going to be giving his victory speech on Tuesday... Here are the details:
Toyota Center
1510 Polk Street
Houston, TX
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Doors Open: 6:00 p.m.
Dallas/Fort Worth: Wednesday Feb. 20
I do not have a solid confirmation of the location for any of these events. If you live in Austin or D/FW and you have this info, please post it and I'll add it to this post. I have a tentative location in Fort Worth; once I get confimation I'll add it here.
The important this is that we need to get the word out! It's time to blast this out and give people a head's up so we can have rallies befitting our size and stature. =)
Also, to anyone who can help... We need people phone banking into Texas! Hillary is already calling (both robo and real people) into D/FW, so I assume she's calling other metro areas as well. We need people to use BHO's phonebank tool here. We need your help!
If you are in Texas, please check out the Texas Precinct Captain Program. Sign up and start burning up those free night and weekend minutes. WE CAN DO THIS.
I am starting to believe that we are going to suprise Team Clinton on March 4. We had TWO Precinct Captain recruiting/training sessions in Fort Worth this weekend. Saturday morning, over 250 people braved potential tornadoes and hailstorms to attend PC training. Now THAT is dedication. I'm hearing similar reports from around the state.
Let's keep this momentum going. Let's deliver Texas for Team Obama. YES. WE. CAN.
update: P.S. D/FW friends... keep an eye on the editorial pages of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram this weekend.... HINT HINT.
Update 2: Here it is!!! The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has endorsed Barack Obama in an article entitled "Transformation Time":
Obama steps up, fresh and inspirational, with a message and an energy that transcend the demographic differences among voters that the media so stubbornly focus on: race, gender, age and economic standing.
On an international stage, his face representing the United States of America would speak volumes to a world community that has turned away from assisting this great nation.
The expectation and pressure on him to deliver change on a worldwide scale will be tremendous. If he continues to deliver the kind of turnout at the polls that he has shown so far, he would move onto that stage with a commanding mandate from the American people.
The historic turnouts in the Democratic primaries and caucuses thus far can't all be credited to Obama. Clinton is a worthy and experienced opponent who has drawn her share of new voters.
But Obama is smart and experienced in working directly with low- and middle-class Americans to better their lives, and he brings a message of hope that the country needs in this moment.
Yes, we know, hope is not a strategy. But it can get people working together to find one.
