My favorite person in my life was my Slovakian grandfather that moved to America alone, without my grandma, dad and oldest aunt. He fought in World War One, against the United States, because he was forced too! He lost his only sibling, twin brother, within days of the end of that war. He moved to America, worked for Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, MI and saved money to buy a farm in mid-Michigan and move his family to America. My grandparents had 3 more children in America. I remember sitting on my grandpas lap (I was his oldest granddaughter) and him telling me stories about government corruption and I look back and realize that he was talking about Viet Nam and not just the Soviet Union. ( We lost a family member and close-family neighbor in Viet Nam) He moved to America for religious and personal freedom and to have an honest government. Even though I was raised Catholic, more on the flip.....,
