Hillary & Bill, you're playing a dangerous game

Tue May 20, 2008 at 09:55:13 PM PDT

I'm imagining the conversation in the Hillary "war room" right now..

"okay, so the only argument we have left is the popular vote? "

" Yep. Yep.  But that will be enough to win us the nomination.  Trust me."

" What about the pledged delegate count?  Don't you think the media bring that up?"

" Not to worry.  We need to make this about the popular vote.. our allies in the media will frame this debate around the popular vote and our base will forget about the delegate count if they ever knew it existed in the first place."

" Great point, but"

" But what ?

" Well... the superdelegates are not ordinary joe-six-pack voters and need to be convinced that popular vote means something... otherwise we lose the nomination."

" The superdelegates......

Ya... the superdelegates.   I find it curious how different people pronounce that word.  Lanny Davis (clinton surrogate) pronounces it with a long A, maybe thats the proper pronunciation but I'm not about argue over it..

So, what about the superdelegates?   I'm not about to delve into the precise numbers that remain but its something like 200, maybe 210...

That is totally beside the point.

Something curious happened tonight... the victor in the pledged delegate contest was a black guy... That's something to think about.   Pretty amazing isn't it? Pinch me!  Wait, don't.. because this is too good... this is way too much fun.

A black guy with a very weird name WON the nomination!!...  that is something to chew on LAUGH

ooops, did I say he won the nomination?

HOLD ON, Maybe he hasn't wrapped it up like I would like to believe.   Remember this is the democratic party and we have our special way of doing things... the final decision is ultimately laid in the hands of the "superdelegates," "the party elite," the party elders," "the wise party members,".. and so on and so on...

Let me interrupt.... Barack Obama has won the majority of the elected delegates available... chew on that team hillary!  you've been beaten and now you're relying on the "party elite" to save your ass.   Are there any Hillary supporters here that will say that I'm wrong in making this point?

I'll answer that.  NO.

Funny place you find yourself in, eh?

But maybe you still think the superdelegates will save you from losing the nomination? Maybe... maybe you want to take this all the way to denver with the fancy idea that the superdelegates have not consummated their marriage with Barack until the final moments of the Denver convention... there is always the chance that they will change their mind.

Possible... I'll give you that.

I'll leave this diary with this....

african american voters, about 13% of the population (40 million americans) vote for the democratic candidate as a bloc, 9 to 1, every for years... and every 2 years for congress and the same way every 6 for senator (BUT, not with the same certainty in Ohio.)

Dear Team Hillary, go ahead with your superdelegate argument.. I dare you to.. I dare you to fuck over 40 million voters...

- they've been faithful to the democratic party for decades and now you're about to fuck every one of them over..

You have chance, Go ahead.. make their day..

Lets see how that works out for you..  chuckle

Sadly, if you do MAKE that decision you will forever cement the suspicions in the black community that decisions are made by the white power brokers in Washington, D.C... that kind of short-sighted bullshit it will reverberate for in the black community for generations, well beyond our own, what little trust there was today will disappear completely.

White people can't really complain about this, we vote in the most fantasticly stupid and paranoid ways every election (talk to that silly soccer/security mom demographic voting for Bush)  We have absolutely nothing to grieve upon in this primary election... but remember this,  with every primary and every election african american voters are there with us regardless.. voting for OUR candidate, 9 to 1...

and this time its their candidate.. and by chance, the majority of americans like him as well, he's ALL OURS :)  Is this not a great synergy we have going here?  God damn it.

So go ahead Team Clinton and make my day you motherfuckers, do it.. I really want to see you do it.. twist arms and bribe the superdelegates, lets see the kind vein-busting influence you have left.  This isn't blackmail..  You want this to go to Denver?  AWESOME.. Bring IT ON.  I just want to see how fucking absolutely crazy are, FUCKING DEATHWISH.   Bring it on.

-- Sincerely, white "hard working" american voter.
