Obama's Effect on AA Youth

I know this is short, but I just wanted to share this beautiful segment on what Obama's achievement means to the African American community.

The most striking moment for me was when it was mentioned that AA's have someone to look up to besides athletes and rap stars. There are so many young people out in the cities who think that their only shot at a good life lies in the chance occurance of becoming famous as entertainers.

But it isn't just AA's that feel a sense of efficacy. People of all ages, races, and backgrounds feel the same-- the sense of limitless possibility.

I'm 20, I've been told to wait my turn, I'm someone with a funny name, and will probably be labeled as a "San Francisco liberal" if I ever run for office. But I don't care-- Barack Obama has shown me personnally that hard work can overcome the most egregious of smears and allegations.
